Coping with grief
Grief is an emotion we will all experience at some time during our lives.
It’s a feeling of overwhelming sadness when faced with the death of someone close us, someone we loved; a partner in life, a parent or grandparent, a child, a sibling or close friend.
Grief may present in many ways – it may be one of disbelief, intense sadness, anger, seeking solitude or being unable to sleep.
Many of our hospitals, nursing homes and hospices have trained professional staff to support you, both before and at the time of the death of your loved one. They can guide you through the initial phase of grief when someone dies. They may also be able to make phone calls to family members on your behalf and arrange for someone to be with you at this sad time.
We have researched supporting bodies to help you through a very difficult time in your life and cope with the grief you are experiencing – we have listed a selection here.
